I have a hard time
Staying patient while I'm waiting for the masses to fully grasp all my greatness
I'm shaking from frustration
Of course I got the vision that God gave me
But the way He paved the road it make me feel like we won't make it
Am I crazy for questioning the message that he sent?
Confirmation would be great to know the path I'm on is correct
But my flesh is so content with second guessing every step in this direction
I feel tempted to look back at what I've left
Behind
I told my mom to give me time
I would love to see her retire from the way I write these rhymes
So I let my pen glide on the paper
Until I'm able to put food up on the table
For my fam to feast on later
I'm grateful
From creating in closets, to standing on stages
And Spotify playlists, and radio stations
Amazing, I made it! (uhh)
Not yet, but I'm so far from where I started
A part of me is astonished at all that we have accomplished
I ain't finished yet!
I got goals that are so much greater than what I can write on paper
Your speakers couldn't contain it if I chose to say it
These are more than manifestations
I'm living proof of what dreams could do in situations
My potential been evident since the day I popped out the womb
Till the tomb is my settlement, I put the effort in
I want success here in the present tense while I'm alive and great
But however long that the journey takes, it's worth the wait
I know it's worth the wait

Can you continue to stand firm while the sands of time diminish?
My biggest fear is phasing out before I reach the finish
If minutes turn to months and I'm stuck in the same position,
I posit inside my mind that I wasn't meant for the mission
Ambition extinguished
In a culture more concerned with attaining achievements
I find resting has been the biggest secret
Sealed inside a place that I can't penetrate
The twisted irony to see which is the first to break
I had to pay,
My dues using the currency of my mental state
A barter system which I'm refusing participation
Suffocating, while submerged under the flood of statements
Searching for the one attached to your name in which you're saying,
You're proud of me
I probably work too hard to hear it
And possibly
If you said it now, I wouldn't believe it
Undoubtedly
I die a bit every time I see that
All of my achievements don't bring me closer to what I'm reaching for
Thinking songs could settle the score
At war because I'm tethered to my constant need for more
An overachiever and perfectionist at its finest
Manipulating the finest details till I'm no longer solemn
The final goal is to find joy within this middle ground
I catch a glimpse before it pass away
When tomorrow's trials are molded to the smile of yesterday
I'll look back and say, I'm so glad you kept the faith
Knew it'd be worth the wait
